California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger endorsed Sen. John McCain in the Republican presidential race on Thursday, praising him as an extraordinary leader who can reach across the political aisle to get things done.

Age Helps in Oldland, But Not in America

Some 44 percent of Floridians are over the age of 60 — and they voted for John McCain by a wide margin. What Chuck Norris tried to make a negative may very well have been a positive for the Arizona senator.
Let's be real; in the #1 land of white hair and golf carts, an elderly man from the #1 land of gray hair and gold cards is going to do pretty well. His age won't be so helpful come Tuesday.
Don't get me wrong, my weight is now fully and enthusiastically behind McCain, but Chuck Norris may have a point (keep in mind, he'll eat your babies if you say he doesn't have a point).

The next President should announce support for Robert Zubrin's Energy Victory policy that all new cars sold in the United States be flex-fuel vehicles that can run on ethanol and methanol. Achievable for just $100 a car, this helps the environment and the third world poor, while helping to break OPEC.

Giuliani to Drop Out
It looks like Giuliani is stepping down:
Following his third place finish in Florida, former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani is expected to drop out of the presidential race today and endorse Sen. John McCain.
Neither his departure nor his endorsement is much of a surprise. Good-bye to my third favorite candidate in the race.
Update: Edwards dropped out too. Good-bye to my third least favorite candidate in the race.

(Rushed) State of the Union Response
I know I promised to personally address the State of the Union, but I'm pressed for time. Just a few comments:
- He was poised.
- He gloated on Iraq.
- The Democrats were assholes regarding the standing ovation stuff (then again, the Republicans weren't lovely either).
McCain Comments
John McCain held a blogger conference call today, mostly to respond to John Fund's claim in the Wall Street Journal that he might not appoint a judge like Sam Alito who "wore his conservatism on his sleeve." (Which, by the way, I don't think Alito did.) McCain said that he doesn't recall making the statement attributed to him by Fund, and doesn't know its source. McCain emphasized that he supported Alito enthusiastically, spoke in his favor on the Senate floor, and voted for his confirmation. He has said repeatedly that if elected President, he would nominate Supreme Court justices in the mold of Roberts and Alito.
Because I am such a high level blogger, the boys at Powerline were intimidated to invite me to their conference call with McCain. As a result, I'll have to take John's word for it.

Pork Spending and the State of the Union
Most members of Congress call them earmarks. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi tried to get them called "legislatively directed spending." But for almost every American taxpayer I've run into over the last year, it's called "pork" and it's not very tasty.
Bush will talk about it in his State of the Union.

Qtrax, a digital service announced today, promises a catalogue of more than 25 million songs that users can download to keep, free and with no limit on the number of tracks.

Apple is unlikely to allow tracks downloaded from its rival to be compatible with iPods, but, while the iPod is the most popular music player, it has not succeeded in dominating the market: sales of the iPod account for 50 million out of 130 million total digital player sales. Qtrax has also spoken of an “iPod solution”, to be announced in April.
